The debate has been an ongoing one of which is better, native apps or HTML apps. While there are pros and cons to both, the main problem is that for the present moment, native apps win hands down, and unless HTML5 can catch up, then there’s not much use for the debate in the first place.
Most mobile apps developers will say the same thing at the end of the day, native apps are better in terms of quality, but lets take a look at other aspects of it too.
Firstly, in this debate many mobile apps developers seem to forget that putting aside pure functionality, the main issue here are the people who use these apps and their relationship with them. Technology is evolving faster every day and mobile development is one of those areas that are growing just as fast especially with regards to social impact. Smartcases are replacing laptops and even wallets now.
I think this gives us a good glimpse into what is coming, what is going to be the norm where people live their lives through apps that they can choose to install on their phones. It won’t be just iPhone Developer, techies or business people who would be living this way, it would be any Joe or Jane soon. Now, given the choice to pick an app for a particular function, where both can perform the same task, but one is native and the other HTML, which one would you pick? I’d imagine the one that is easiest to use and provides the most enjoyment.

Native apps are also capable of doing more than HTML apps. Say for example, if you wanted to create an app for a violin tuner, the app needs to be done natively. The violin tuner application would need to take advantage of the hardware of the device, such as its microphone and speaker. HTML5 can’t possibly support this, simply because there is not API into the Smartphone’s microphone or speaker from HTML. But even if it existed, it would never reach the speed, quality level or , even if there were it would be slow in comparison to a native app.
I guess at the end of the day, from my perspective at least, is that if you can make an app that is user friendly, uses the iPhone that I paid so much for fully, and results in a high quality app, why go any other way but native? And if you’ve got a brilliant idea for an app, might as well make it a native one (at least it sells now, big time), with the help of professional mobile apps developers, such as Jinibot Mobile Developers.
